Before restructuring his approach, songwriter Dmytro Shevchenko prioritized melodic complexity. His hooks spanned twelve to fourteen semitones with frequent interval jumps.

Client feedback from late 2023 repeatedly mentioned difficulty singing along. Three sync licensing opportunities fell through because music supervisors found melodies too challenging for casual listeners.

The constraint system implemented

Dmytro imposed strict limitations: chorus melodies could not exceed eight semitones. Each hook required one phrase repeated twice with minimal variation.

He analyzed twenty commercially successful songs from different genres, mapping their melodic ranges. The average chorus stayed within seven semitones with 65% of phrases containing repetition.

Output changes over twelve weeks

Between February and April 2024, the songwriter produced eleven tracks using the new parameters. Eight received immediate client approval for memorability.

One March composition for a commercial brief landed the placement after the first pitch. The client specifically mentioned the singable quality in their acceptance email.

What differs in the final product

Previous work required listeners to hear songs four or five times before retention occurred. New tracks showed recall after two listens in informal testing with five people.

The constraints initially felt restrictive. Dmytro worried about creative limitations but discovered that working within boundaries forced more inventive rhythm choices and lyrical hooks.

Revenue increased 34% in the April quarter compared to October through December 2023, correlating directly with the methodology shift and higher client satisfaction rates.

Program spans twelve weeks. First four weeks cover sound design fundamentals. Weeks five through eight focus on arrangement and composition. Final four weeks address mixing and mastering techniques.
Live feedback during sessions. Screen sharing for detailed technique demonstration. Private messaging for technical questions between sessions. Monthly one-on-one progress reviews included with enrollment.
Weekly production assignments reviewed by instructors. Peer feedback sessions during group classes. Final project completed independently and presented to the group. No grading system, focus on practical skill acquisition.
All group sessions recorded and available for seven days. Individual lessons not recorded to maintain privacy. Session materials and project files shared via cloud storage after each class.
